The Board of Trustees and leadership of Africa’s Voices are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr Peter da Costa. Peter joined our Board only recently, but he was a longstanding friend and advisor of Africa’s Voices from its very beginnings in 2015. He was a real believer in our mission and in our ability to deliver it. And so he was also robust and demanding in the questions he asked of us, urging us to keep up our ambition but to deliver it with care. Peter married a unique combination of scholarly depth and critical intellectual inquiry, with a keen practical sense of current possibilities for driving African countries forward in the age of data and digital technology. His affinity with the core of Africa’s Voices’ spirit thus ran deep. Above all, Peter was a wonderful champion of young African leaders, including especially as Deputy Chair and long-time Board member of the African Leadership Centre, and here we shall always take inspiration from him.
