Karen is a Kenyan citizen with over ten years’ experience in international development. She has worked in the continent on transparency and accountability, financing for development, and on partnerships to strengthen data systems to measure and achieve sustainable development.

Karen sees herself as a data and evidence use champion, she values promoting access and use of data in ways that guide decision making but also empowering communities to use evidence and data to change their lives.

She is a Policy Officer at the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD). She is responsible for research, policy analysis and writing on data for development with a focus on population data. She leads and manages projects that fall under the policy team portfolio on population data including the Administrative Data Collaborative, the Citizen-Generated Data Task Team and the work on Leave No One Behind (LNOB) and most recently the Data Values Project track on data as a route to inclusion and equity.

Karen holds a master’s degree in economics (Public finance and Health economics) from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
